Доп. информация: Идея создания проекта появилась где-то под конец 1992 года. Первые шаги этого проекта были окружены тайной. Даже сотрудники Nuclear Blast вначале скрывали, кто выступает под названием The Abyss. На запросы журналистов отвечали, что группа не дает интервью. Да и сами музыканты не давали интервью и были инкогнито, лейбл молчал. Но вскоре мир узнал - это black metal инкарнация бессмертных Hypocrisy, сайд-проект где участники группы меняются инструментами и играют совершенно иную музыку.
